Browser URL Completion

I remember that in Leopard, if I typed “apple”, say, into Safari or Firefox, it would be smart enough to try “apple.com”.

Now in Snow Leopard it doesn’t.

Am I remembering correctly?

Is there a fix for that?

Thanks.

It still does this in Snow Leopard. But it isn't completing "apple.com" because it knows ahead of time. It completes it because it finds it in either your bookmarks or browser history. That's where it gets the completion information.
Visit the site first, and then see if it does it. Of course if you clear your history after that, and don't have that site in your bookmarks, it will fail to complete it again. So maybe check your Safari preferences settings for your history.
Also note that completion is literal. So if you have only ever gone to "www.apple.com" and you type "apple" it won't complete because it doesn't know "apple.com" only "www.apple.com"
