How Do I Break Up a Section In Pages?

I’m compiling a memoir with text, photos and captions.

The writing was done in Pages as one file with chapters. I copied that file and inserted it into a new Pages document (not a template). It created a complete section of 25 pages.

Question 1) Is there a way to work with Pages without using sections? So each page is just a page that can be moved around? I want to insert a page after a chapter and put a collage of photos then have the writing continue.

Question 2) If not, how do I break up sections?

Because each photo and text block needs to be fluid so I can manipulate it all, these sections are making that difficult.

I’m on a MacBook Pro, 13 inch, MacOS Catalina, 10.15.3. Pages version 8.2.1

Also if anyone out there used Mac Pages for this type of project, please let me know. Thank you. Thank you.

In the word processing document, if you want to be able to move things around in the left sidebar thumbnails, you need to break them into sections. Since text within a section flows from one page to the next, you can't simply rearrange pages inside a section, only the sections themselves.

However, if you just want to put a page with some photos in your text, just insert a Page Break where you want the new page to start, then another Page Break after that to create a blank page in between. Then put your photos on that blank page.

Thank you Gary.... I'll try what you recommend and listen to the corresponding videos... I got myself confused. Stay safe. I'll be back as I maneuver my way through this project. Best regards.. Melanie
