How Do I Get My Music From the Music App To Download On My MacBook?

I have an iMac that is running Catalina 10.15.2 and the music app Version 1.0.2.37. My 2,338 songs are there and all my playlists.

On my MacBook which is also running Catalina 10.15.2 and the music app 1.0.2.37. It only shows 20 songs and I have never seen the playlists that are listed. I didn’t create them.

They are both signed into the same iCloud account. I have tried signing out of the music account on my MacBook, restarting, rebooting, etc.

What else should I try?

Thank you, Gary!

Are you using Apple Music? If so, then they should sync effortlessly if you are signed into the same account. Check in the Music app in the Account menu, as you can log into a different account in the Music app that what you are using for iCloud.

If you are not using Apple Music, then you have two options. One is to use Home Sharing. https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT202190

The other option is to get iTunes Match. https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT204146

I guess there is a third option which is to manually copy all of your music from one Mac to the other and set it up on the second Mac. Not sure if copying the Music Library file will also get you your playlists, but this isn't a realistic option anyway.
