I used to use a smart album: Photo…is not..in any. This feature disappeared a while ago. I waited for the new update which I have (Mohave 10.14) but the smart album was not added. Is there a way to know that no photos have been missed being put in an album?

You can certainly still do and Smart Album where it is "Album" and "is not" and "Any." Try creating it. I just did it to test.
