Occasionally Apple offers a special bonus if you would like to pre-fund your Apple ID account. From now until March 14, Apple is offering a 10 percent bonus for up to $200. So if you add $200 to your account, you get $20 extra added. Your funds are then used for iTunes purchases, App Store purchases, and recurring charges like iCloud storage and Apple Music.
To get this deal on your Mac, in iTunes go to Account, View My Account. Then look for Add Funds to Apple ID on the right under Apple ID Account. On iOS, click on your Apple ID in the Settings app, then iTunes & App Store, then your Apple ID at the top, then View Apple ID, then Add Funds to Apple ID.
Thanks for that tip, Gary. I would always bend over to pick up $20 on the sidewalk!
I just did it; that was a GREAT idea !!! Who KNEW??!!
I took advantage of it yesterday. Thanks for the communications.
I am billed for Hulu and Netflix monthly fees through my Apple account, but I read through all the legalese on this offer and still can't tell whether those services would be covered. Do you know, Gary?
Joel: If they are being billed as in-app subscriptions, then the money should come out of your Apple funds. Neither Hulu nor Netflix should know or care if it was pre-funded, gift card or something else.
Great idea! Thanks for the tip, Gary. Just done it. Hope the bonus applies to the UK too, but even it if doesn't, it's handy not to have all the little charges cluttering up my credit card statement.
Gary, I added funds but no bonus. Perhaps bonus does not apply to London but only those in the US
Allan: Did you see the deal, like in the image that came with this post?
Hi Gary
Thanks for the tip about prepaying to my Apple Acct....and I get paid for doing it!
Sweet!
I received an ITunes gift card. If I add that to my account would it also qualify for the 10%?
Lisa: No. This is only when purchasing funds directly through the iTunes or Settings apps.
Gary, regarding your response to my earlier post, no the deal did not flash up when I signed into my apple account. Thanks.
