I know the airplay mirroring only works on 2011 and newer macbooks, but does the airplay audio on an AirPort express work for the macbook output on the 2009 macbook pros? It works for itunes, and the 3rd party airfoil, just not sure about the standard audio output.
Not sure. No way for me to test it. It may, since it is only audio. Or, it may not: I'd imagine it is more difficult to wirelessly send something that is "live" than something that is a stream. The difference is that when you play a song, your Mac knows what audio to send in advance, so it can stream a little ahead. But your system sound reacts to your input and other things in real time. It might not make a difference. Or, it might require the latest chips in your Mac to do it.

Okay thanks for the response. With airfoil, it works with all apps, but there is about a second delay, so if you are streaming live video, you need to use the included video player in order to delay the video data so it syncs with the audio. I guess I will upgrade to ML at some point, just seems that the most appealing features are not going to be applicable to a macbook pro more than a year old.

Will Apple come out with a patch or upgrade to have older iMacs/computers be able to use airplay as long as the customer has Apple TV?
Almost certainly no. The reason it only works on newer Macs is that it needs the latest hardware to perform this difficult task.
BTW, I assume you mean AirPlay mirroring. AirPlay (audio and some video streaming) does work on older Macs and has been around for a while.

I have just upgraded to Mountain Lion about 20mins ago.
I am just trying to learn how things work.
I have noticed one thing straight away. I don`t think it has anything to do with Mountain Lion the internet is working really fast. I don`t no why?

Hi Gary,
I love your instruction material, and, by the way, I also bought your excellent iPad guide book.
I don't know if you have addressed in the past the fact the iCloud Bookmarks sync system stinks. It is the worst service Apple has ever come up with. It creates multiple, and I mean, multiple duplicates of bookmarks between different devices.
I have had to turn that feature off from my iCloud account in my iPad and older MacBook running Lion, and my iMac running Mountain Lion in order to clean up the mess and just keep bookmarks local.
It would be interesting to see what you advise.
Judging from Google searches and Apple forums, I am not the only one with this problem thrown on our laps by Apple.
Maybe sync works best among machines running Mountain Lion, but not mixed OS'.
I have even tried Apples own advise at http://support.apple.com/kb/TS4001 to no avail.
Thanks,

I haven't run into that problem. It syncs the bookmarks fine for me -- no duplicates. Syncing between two Macs, iPad and iPhone.
Re the SAVE AS, am I correct in understanding that you cannot use the ALT key to change DUPLICATE to SAVE AS in Lion. ?
Right. That is new in Mountain Lion.
Gary, your newsletters are fabulous. Thanks very much for the 'Save As' tips here. You have made my life much easier now!
Great video, i like the face you can move your drives about in the sidebar finder, thank you.
