Gary, I want to record only my voice with final cut pro, but use just a picture as the video for it. is this possible?

Not sure if you want to use a still image as the visual portion, or a video. If a stil image, then just drag and drop that image into the timeline, and adjust it to take up as much space as you need.
Then use the Record Audio function, found in the Window menu, to add audio directly to the timeline with the microphone connected to your Mac.
