How To Adjust Photos That Have Been Automatically Cropped On Instagram Posting?

I have been frustrated using Instagram from my iPhone. When I try and post a horizontal photo – it cuts off the sides of the photo and often people are cut out of the photo. Is there a way to have the photo be shown as is without being automatically cropped?

The people I want to include in my posting are not shown although the original photo has them in it. I would like the entire photo to be shown. I am unable to modify the photo on the Instagram site.

Instagram should give you a choice when you upload a new photo. Are you trying to "share" from the Photos app or somewhere else? Use the Instagram app instead, if so.

In the Instagram app on the iPhone, when you tap the + button to add a new post, and then select a photo, you get the choice as to whether to upload a square image, cropping out the sides, or the full image. It is a button at the bottom left corner of the photo that looks like two arrowheads facing up to the right and down to the left. Tap it to toggle between the two modes.
