Gary i am a little confused about the difference between Final Cut Express/Final Studio / Final Pro or Final Cut Studio Pro X
Firstly What his the difference between these ?
I am fairly good with iMovie and want to start learning Final Cut. But am confused which way to go and what to buy.
I found the Mac App Store has Final Cut Pro for $299.00 But my Apple Dealer here says that the one available on the Mac App Store is the Express Version that is cheaper.
He is offering me the FUll Version (Final Cut Pro Studio 10) 50 Gb with 8 DMG files or something.
Do I need to get it ? What according to you is the best thing I should do. I am not getting into hardcore Film Editing. Just want to graduate from iMovie, Upwards.

Final Cut Studio Pro (version 7) is the old version of Final Cut that was discontinued this year, though it can still be purchased if you ask.
Final Cut Express was a lower-end product that resembled Final Cut Studio, but was a slightly different interface. It was also discontinued this year.
Final Cut Pro X is the new video editor from Apple that takes the place of the old Final Cut Studio Pro.
The only choice you really have is Final Cut Pro X. That's the one in the Mac App Store. The only reason to seek out the old and more expensive Final Cut Studio Pro is if you are a large shop that has standardized on that old software and do not wish to retrain for the new one at this moment. Some studios use special features of that old version and are not ready to move on yet.
So, for you, the only choice is really Final Cut Pro X. It is what I use, starting about 20 episodes back.
I don't know what this "full version" of "Final Cut Pro Studio 10" would be. There is only one version of Final Cut Pro X and you can only get it from the Mac App Store.

Everyone learns differently so it is hard to tell. But I love iMovie, and now I also love FCPX. I think it is an easy transition. But FCPX is a much deeper tool. It will take me (and perhaps you) a long time to master every aspect of it.
ok and Gary if you can tel me how many GB is it ? That is the Download File size?
I have never touched iMovie. I take it for granted that it is way over my head, however is there a simple tutorial,for dummies like me. Example - joining 2 tutorials together,or anything simular just to get started. Thanks Gary
You can see all the videos on any topic by clicking on the "Videos" link at the top of every page. Then look for iMovie. That way you can see all the iMovie videos. Just watch the ones that relate to what you want to do in iMovie.
