Automatically Apply permissions to folders and items

I was wondering if there is a way to automatically update the permissions of a folder or item, such as and iTunes music folder or iPhoto library that I’m trying to share between users. Every time new items are added to itunes or iphoto, the other users don’t have read and write permissions until I manually go in and reapply permissions. Is there any way to have folders or items automatically update the permissions of the items that are added to them?

This should happen automatically. If a folder is set to be shared, and you add items to it, then those items are now shared.
I'd take a step back and investigate why this isn't happening. Is this folder in your home folder? Are you an admin account? Is it properly set up to be shared using system prefs? Are the files coming from somewhere where they are getting individual permissions applied before you copy them over?
It is very hard to diagnose this remotely, so if you can't figure it out you may want to have a nearby Mac expert take a look.
