Just switched from PC to Mac and When I went to plug my headset in that has a mic I couldn’t find where to plug in the mic!! Do I have to get a usb headset?

The new MacBooks actually have a single port for mic/headphones. Plug in a set of headphones and they work. Plus in a set of earbuds from Apple or a third party -- the ones meant for the iPhone -- and you can use both the earbuds and the mic.
BUT, if you want to use a regular mic, then you need to get a USB adapter. They are cheap, like the iMac which works great. http://macmost.com/j-imic
Another option is to use a USB mic -- there are lots of those. A USB headset is another option too.
