When I try to find a file, the window returns no results or not the right ones. I can see the files on my desktop and “apple key + f” won’t find them!?
Is there a preference file I can delete? What can I do to fix this.
I downloaded a program called EasyFind and it works great, like my Find used to work.
Thanks in advance for your help!

Command+F will launch Spotlight, the Mac's search application utility. By default, it looks for keywords in the contents of the file. But if you look at the top of the window, you can see that you can search by file name as well. You can also specify where you want Spotlight to look. It is very powerful. But you may have been searching by content when you meant to search by filename. Or, you may have been looking somewhere that didn't include your desktop.
Use that toolbar at the top of the window to adjust both of these factors.
See episode 310 for a video tutorial on Spotlight: http://macmost.com/searching-for-files-with-spotlight.html
Hi Gary, no I've been using Apple computers since the 80's, I've got 3 running as we speak.
It's not that... It's somehow corrupted.
Any power user tips?
I would check your Spotlight settings. Try adding your entire hard drive to the privacy list. This will take it out of the Spotlight index. Then, maybe after a quick restart, remove it from the privacy list. This should force it to re-index everything.
Thanks! I will try it tonight!
