How can I tell when I need more memory?

Is there an easy way to tell if more memory would be of benefit to a computer? How many virtual pages there are in the activity monitor, or something else?

It is very hard to tell. Depends on what you do with your computer, how critical it is that you get a fast response, etc. You can use Activity Monitor and look at the System Memory pie chart at the bottom. If you have very little or none "free" or "inactive" then it is probably an indicator that you need more for how you use your Mac.
