How Do I Charge the Battery In MacBook Air the Most Effective Way?

I’ve been in contact with the Apple Support a lot of times and every time I get different answers about charging the battery the most effective way.
I know that the battery age through a chemical process – but what can I do to take care of the battery the best way?
My question:
Is there a way to do so and if so how?

I use my Mac by attending zoom, teams. Watching streamings apps like Netflix, ComHem Play, TV+ a.s.o. Several hours per day.

The answers I got is:
– Plug in the charging cable as soon as you stream any of the above. Keep it in the whole time you are attending these…
Do so even if the battery percent shows 100% or 20%

– Charge after a drop at 50% up to 100%

– Charge the battery to keep it between 30-80%.

What to do?
I know the battery has a charging cycle of 1000 full times before it starts dropping.

Can we solve this once and for all?

Grateful for answers.

Here's the key. Your MacBook is a tool that you use. So use it. Don't let it use you.

If it is convenient to have it plugged in, then plug it in. So keep it plugged in while using it or while it is sleeping while at your desk or when a power outlet is nearby and convenient to use. Plug it in at night to charge it up so it is ready for whatever the next day brings.

Otherwise, use it own battery if it is not convenient to plug it in. If you need to use it in a place where there is no plug, or it would be awkward to plug it in, then use the battery. That is what it is for. Don't be afraid to use the battery.

That's it. Let the hardware and software worry about optimizing the battery. It will do so. No need to play games with discharging it to a point and then charging it up to a point. No need to keep it "in-between" percentages. The battery health functions in macOS Big Sur will already take care of a lot of that behind the scenes.

Just use your MacBook in the best way to get your work done. Don't obsess about the battery.

Otherwise, you may be able to get slightly more life from that battery, but at the cost of losing time and effort on your part. What difference will it really make if your battery lists you 5 years and 4 months instead of 5 years and 3 months if that entire time you are going out of your way to follow some sort of system for optimizing battery charging. Use your time and effort to get your work done with the tool you bought to help you get work done.

This video doesn't cover the latest Big Sur battery health stuff, but the general advice is there: https://macmost.com/frequently-asked-questions-about-macbook-batteries.html

Great!! I take it that the charging stops when it reaches 100% so it doesn’t overload ? ?Like the genius it is 🥰

Ann: Your battery won't "overcharge." That and a lot more if taken care of by the hardware and software. Many people leave their MacBooks plugged in all the time in fact.
