How Do I Increase the Mac Menu Bar Size?

Is there a way to increase the thickness (depth) of the task bar at the top of the screen?

I want a thicker task bar at the top of the screen?

The area at the top of the screen with menus is the Menu Bar in macOS (Task Bar is a Windows thing).

You have the ability to make the Menu Bar larger, by a little bit. Go to System Preferences, Accessibility, Display, Display. Then look for Menu Bar Size and switch to Large. Then close System Preferences and it will ask you log out for the change to take affect.

But note that if the real issue is you are having trouble seeing small text on the screen, then you should consider increasing the size of all text and interface elements. Go to System Preferences, Displays. Change the Resolution to Scaled. Then try the different options.

attempting to enlarge menu bar, I reach "enlarge" but when I return to Preferences the option to Log out is no longer there.

Richard: If you already said no to logging out, it won't bother you again. Just set to ti large and then log out and back in the normal way.
