How Do I Programmatically Adjust iPad Brightness On a Schedule?

I’m trying to manually control the brightness of an iPad display at specific times of day; specifically, I want to dim the display to about 10% at 11pm at night and then return to “auto” brightness at 8am.

I haven’t yet found a way to programmatically control this function. Any ideas?

You can do that in the Shortcuts app. Create a Personal Automation there for 11 pm that sets the brightness to 10%. Then create a second one for 8 am that returns it to whatever you want.

    See https://macmost.com/run-personal-automation-shortcuts-automatically-in-ios-14.html for a tutorial.

Thanks for the instant response. I found that the Shortcut app did not have the "Personal Automation" menu choice at the bottom of the screen, and then realized that both of these iPads are rather old, running iOS 12.5.2 and 9.3.6! (That's what I get trying to repurpose old iPads for a new purpose.)

Any ideas on how I might accomplish the task under these conditions?

Jeff: Without being at iOS 13 or 14, I can't think of a way to do that, sorry.
