How Does One Get Rid Of the Blue Circle In Maps?

Is there a way to get rid of the “blue circle” that appears around my location (domicile) when I use Maps.

I want if off so that I can take a screen shot and use it in one of my classes’ website lessons.

I know I can use Google Maps (no circle), but I would prefer using Maps.

Thanks in advance.

You should be able to do it by turning off Location Services for the Maps app, just temporarily.

So, with the blue circle showing in Maps and it positioned to take the screen shot, go to System Preferences, Security & Privacy. Then go to Privacy and click on Location Services on the left. You'll then need to authenticate by clicking on the little padlock icon and entering your password.

Next, look through the list and find Maps. Turn it off just for Maps. Then wait a few seconds and the blue dot should disappear from the map. If not, try quitting and restarting the Maps app.

Once you have taken the screen shot, turn this back on for Maps and functionality will return to normal.
