Do you mean like I do in my tutorials? I use Screenflow to do that. It puts the screen in one track and the video in another and has a ton of editing options. https://www.telestream.net/screenflow/
But a free way to do it is with OBS (http://obsproject.com). This is usually used for streaming to a service, but you can set it to record as well. But you'll end up with a single track that combines your screen and your video exactly as they appear when you record. So it is a very different way of doing it.
