I send iCal invites, often with notes to explain them, sometimes with required attachments, to people who use both Macs and PCs.
Sometimes the invites don’t get through or if they do, there’s nothing to click. Some people claim my invites come through as gibberish.
Is there anything I can do on my end, or suggest recipients do, to make iCal invites appear properly on a recipient’s computer?

I haven't used this much, but I'm surprised it doesn't work more consistently.I would investigate more. Do the people who don't get invites check to see if they have been caught by their spam filters? What email clients are the people using that say they are coming through as gibberish.
I'm not sure about what clients people use. I do know that the invite goes out as an attachment, and spam filters aren't always under the control of recipients. I also know that two different Outlook users have different experiences, as do two different BlackBerry users - one gets the invite and can accept, the other gets nothing.
Muddying the waters a little is a lack of tech literacy on the part of some of my correspondents - a very common thing out there.
