Hi gary i’ve just got my self the new 27″imac to replace my old 24″ and was wondering is it possible to restore it to the way it was when you first turned it on and get the fancy welcome and if so how to do it so i can sell it on

Take the discs that came with your 24-inch iMac and boot with them. Erase the drive using the Disk Utility on the disc and be sure to zero-out to really erase all data. Then Restore the system from those disks.
I don't know if the welcome screen will come back or not, but they are still getting a used Mac, so they shouldn't expect that.
