I move from one Mac to another on a regular basis. I want to keep all data synced on both Macs. I did a GOOGLE search and found several sites that sell syncing software, is this really needed? (This is one link I found http://www.markspace.com/synctogether/).

Using software like that may be a good option. Otherwise, it depends on what you are syncing -- a few document? 500gigs of video? It could be best to use one Mac as your main one, and the other accessing files from it via networking. That's what I do. My Mac Pro is the main one, and my MacBook Pro just accesses its files over the network on Internet.
