How Do I Take Pictures Out Of Library or Recents Moving Them To an Album?

Is there a way to create a new album in Photos and move photos from “library” to new album and not have them displayed in “Library”
Same question except Is there a way to create a new album in Photos and move photos from “Recents” to new album and not have them displayed in “Recents”
I am trying to take a bunch of vacation photos and move them from either Library or Recents and have them move entirely to a new photo album named Vacation and not have them displayed at all in either Library or Recents.
I believe that there must be be a way to do this in Recents at least, understanding that Library is all my pictures including all that reside in other alby=ums.
Thank you

I am trying to clear up either my Library or Recents in Photos to allow me to find and show my photos to someone else without having to look through them all. Unfortunately I am not someone who is using captions or tags to identify the pictures. I have a lot of Orchid Pictures so using then search feature is not an option for the word plants.

Library is your library. It is everything, by definition. Having a photo in Photos means having it in your library.

If you don't want to look your library in its entirety, you don't have to though. You can create albums and view only them if you like. Create as many as you like, add photos to them, add the same photo to multiple albums, etc.

If you create an album, you can drag and drop photos from the Finder right into the album. This adds them to the library, as it must, but also to that album at the same time.

Note that Recents in the Finder is a list of all of you recent files, sorted by date. Nothing is "in" Recents. Think of it as just a search for all files, sorted by date. The files themselves are in folders on your drive, wherever you put them.

Gary, I want to only reference pictures in the Photos library, not store them there permanently. Can I copy or transfer those i imported into library. With over 18,000 pictures, I had a working file structure that I like and copied to an external HDD when I moved them from a Windows PC to my MacMini. I would like to move any prior imports to back to the HDD, and then import them as referenced pictures. Can it be done. Thanks for all the tips as a noob, your material has been most helpful.

Greg: There is an option for this in Photos, Preferences (Importing: Copy Items To the Photos Library). Note that you can't then access these as part of iCloud though.
