when restoring the iphone, THe Videos and Song playlists never come back and I have to get them back manually.
Yes the setting are manually manage Songs and videos, as I don’t want my entire library synced with the iPhone. But every time I have to restore or update my iPhone, everything comes back like applications and settings and Photos and Contacts and Calendars but I have to always select the Playlists and Videos and drag them manually.
Anyway round this Gary ?

Makes sense as synced files would not need to be included in a backup since you already have them on your Mac anyway. Saves your Mac from having to store the songs twice (could be many GB) and speeds up the backups.
No way around it, but how long does it really take to select the items? How often do you need to do a restore?
But it shouldn't happen when you update your iPhone. I use manual sync and I never have to re-sync songs after an update.
Today i was updating to 4.3.3 and it showed an error and said the iphone needs to be restored. So the restore first happened and then the update and that is when my songs and videos had to be manually synced. !
Ah, so it was not a normal update. There was an error. During a normal update you would not need to restore. So you shouldn't run into this again (hopefully).
Great :)
