Hi,
I have a MacBook. I cannot double-click things with the trackpad. It is still under warranty so I took it to the Apple Store. On examination there are no physical issues with the machine.
I made a fresh account ad the problem appears there, too.
I use Candybar from Panic.com. It appears to bring over the icon changes to the new acct. Nothing else appears to carry over.
Any ideas what might be causing this?
Thanks.

So you took it to the Genius Bar and they didn't know why it wasn't double-clicking? That's weird that they would not give you an answer.
What is your double-click speed set to in the trackpad system prefs?
Double-click speed is set to 'fast'. They told me it must be software, but I don't see how.
Thanks again.
Well, that is right, it must be software because double-clicking should be completely in software. But which software? Do you have a lot of third-party software installed? Any system tools or things that run in the background? Have you tried booting into safe mode to see if double clicking works then?
An update:
Safe mode was of no help. That's odd. I'll try again.
I created a new user account with no startup items or modifications. If I had my main user account logged in while I was using the virgin account I could not double-click items in the virgin account. When I logged out of my user account I could double-click in the virgin account.
Something clearly is wrong in y main account. I'll do a back-up and report.
