When I used the the Migration Assistant App to move files from my MBP to my iMAC, I inadvertently gave my new iMAC the wrong name. I can live with it, but I’d really to change it for sake of accuracy. How do you, or can you, rename a iMAC?

Do you mean the name as it is represented on the network? Go to System Preferences, Sharing, and then right at the top you can change the "Computer Name."
Thank you very much Gary
Thank You Very Very Much!!!!

I think he might be referring to the short name or home folder.
If it's a brand new machine that you just named incorrectly (I just did the same thing with a new mini) I just reinstalled OS X, then preformed the migration again. It takes a few extra minutes but having the incorrect name would bother me forever.
They warn against changing it manually, but instructions are at http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1428
