Hey Gary, I was wondering if you can help me. I am about to buy a new 27″ iMac and I currently have a 20″ iMac. So when I get the new iMac I would like to change the name of my current 20″ under System Preferences-Sharing-Computer Name. Will it be ok to change the name of my current iMac with no problems?

Changing the network name of your Mac isn't an issue. No problem. Did you hear otherwise?
Often people confuse changing the name of the computer (System Preferences, Sharing, Computer Name) with changing the user short name. Itis changing the short name (the name of the User folder) that is difficult. Changing the long name of an account, or changing the network name of the computer is easy and painless.
Hey thanks just what I wanted to hear. Yea I have heard a few stories about changing user short name. Some possible permission problems. Thanks again buddy. I got my free Macworld Passes for next year. Maybe I will see you there.
