How To Stop iPhoto Loading Up When My Flip Video Camera Is Plugged In

Hey,
I got my mac a couple of weeks ago and I am loving it. The only problem I am having is that whenever i plug my Flip Mini HD video camera into my mac, iPhoto loads up automatically. Is there a way i can stop this with out disabling iPhoto loading up when I plug my normal camera into my mac?
Many thanks

Run iPhoto. Go to iPhoto, Preferences. In the "General" tab, look for "Connecting Camera Opens" and select "No Application."
However, this will mean that iPhoto will not launch when you plug in your normal camera too. But it is easy to launch it yourself by just clicking on it in the Dock at the same time you plug in your camera. So that is probably your best bet.

I tried this, and while it stopped iPhoto from automatically opening, I still can't get iMovie to recognize my flip video camera.

I don't think iMovie ever will. Just pull the files off the Flip as if it were a hard drive.

Hi Gary, there's actually a way to enable/disable iPhoto auto launch for different cameras separately. I have it set up so that iPhoto automatically opens only when I connect my camera, and not when I plug in my iPhone for syncing.

The way to do that is to open Image Capture, select your camera and look in the bottom left for the setting "Connecting this camera opens" (if it is hidden, use the button in the bottom left corner to bring it up).
You can choose from a list of applications or select "No application".
This setting applies only to the currently selected camera (or iPhone), unlike the setting in iPhoto that applies to all cameras globally.

Hope you'll find this tip useful.
