Can I Export the Summary Photomontage Movie From a Memory In Photos?

Photos creates short movies of ‘moments’ or events: and some of them are beautiful, with carefully chosen soundtracks.

I would like to be able to save and share these movies, but I can’t see how to do it. I can share the pictures of the event, but not the movie.

Am I missing something?

Thanks for your attention to this.

I want to export the movie ‘summary’ of a ‘moment’ in Photos.

This is so that I can share it with people who don’t have Macs.

I can share the photos from the ‘moment’, but this movie seems to be generated only within Photos.

I think you are asking about "Memories." Yes, you can export a memory as a video. The simplest way to do it is to select Memories in the left sidebar. Then double-click on the memory you want to export. This takes you to the place where you can edit the memory, with buttons at the bottom left to change the music or the look.

At this point you can also click the Share button or choose File, Share to have a video made and then send it via email, AirDrop and so on.

But you can also choose File, Export, Export Memory Video to just save the video to your local drive. You even get Aspect and Orientation options.

    Gary, Thank you.

To make it work I had to select 'Export Memory Video' from the file menu **while the movie was actually playing.**, otherwise the option was greyed out.

In this case, it told me the music could not be shared - which was disappointing - and I had to select another soundtrack.

But thank you again - I had spent hours on that and even resorted to filming the screen with my phone!
