I go to an event and shoot 150 pictures. Then I select, process, and insert maybe 40 into an album. How do I export this album with modified pictures and retain the same order when it gets to the email recipient. What about the size of the files? Individual pictures and total album.

Look at the export options. There are naming options, like "sequential" that may get you what you want. Try it. See if that does what you need. There are also size options for the export. The way you do this is to try and see what you get, then try other options and keep doing it until you have your own process down.
