Gary, I have a question: On my menu bar there is an AirPort ikon. When I click on it, it shows a list of connections I have made some time ago. These connections are very long ago and are quite a distends from here, some 500 miles away.
Is there a way I can delete them? I know, they don’t do any harm, but are there and I feel better, if I could do away with them.

Go to System Preferences. Then Network. Then select your wifi connection on the left. Then click the Advanced button. You'll see a list of your preferred networks. Select any you want and use the - button to forget them.
Gary, I did just that, but the connections I talked about don't show up on that list, only my network and the guest network.
If you see names when you select the wifi icon in the menu bar, those are the names of nearby routers. I know you said "some 500 miles away" but is it possible that there are nearby ones with the same names (default router names, etc). You should only see nearby ones there.
