New Mac User “How do I Right Click”

My wife recently purchased a MacBook Pro and I am trying to open an attachment in an email. It says I am supposed to right click the attachment… I don’t know how to right click! Can someone help?

The easiest way to right click is to hold the Control key down and click on an item. But you have other options as well. Go into System Preferences, then look unser Trackpad for a setting for "secondary click" -- this gives you other options for a right click.
It is called "right click" because on a two-button mouse or a Magic Mouse you would click the right side instead of the left side of the mouse.
Right clicking is an important technique because you can right click many objects in the Finder and in applications and bring up a contextual menu of actions. Try it with a file in the Finder and you'll see.

Gary, thanks so much. This MacBook Pro is very new and also very expensive, do you have any suggestions for me so I can become a little proficient at using it? I am decent with windows, but this is my first mac.

Thanks again for taking your time to help, it means a lot!

Well I've got plenty of free videos here. Just click on "Videos" at the top and then pick a topic. Lots to learn. You could also get a book if you prefer to learn that way.
