Everyone has a story about losing data. Whether it’s work data or personal data, we’ve all been there.
I’m making it my personal mission to never let that happen to me again.
So I’m curious. What’s your preferred method to backing up? both on and off site.

What’s your preferred backup strategy?

As for me, I do two things. First, I back up using Time Machine. I have a 2TB disk attached to my Mac and use that.
Second, I use SuperDuper to create a copy of my hard drive (and update it) and store that copy off-site. I do that about once every two weeks.
I would think the first would be sufficient for most home users. Since I use my Mac to make a living, I do the second.
I would definitely rather like to use an online backup solution, but since I shoot a lot of HD video every week, it isn't feasible. If it wasn't for the video, I would do it that way.
I like your double backup strategy. Instead of using two different software programs - time machine for one external HD and SuperDuper for other external HD kept at another location, can I use Time Machine for both? In other words, can I run Time Machine hourly on the external HD at home and also run Time machine every few weeks on the second external HD used to archive my data off site? Thank you. Tim
Not easily, no. I don't recommend trying that.
Thank you.
