The invitation to next week’s Apple press event all but confirms that it will be about the next version of the iPhone. The invite shows the date, a 12, leaving the shadow of a 5, apparently referring to the iPhone 5.
Rumors have been suggesting that this event will be dedicated to the next iPhone, although reports are all over the board about what new features may be included. Many agree that it will include a new, smaller, dock connector and a taller screen. It is also possible that this event will include the announcement of a matching iPod touch.
However, most believe that a second event in October will focus on other products, such as the possibility of a smaller version of the iPad.

While I was skeptical at first about playing SimCity again, I have to admit this touch version of the game sucked me in just like the original. SimCity Deluxe for iPad has that same addictive feel as you try to please your Sims by zoning and building. Felt good to be mayor again.

The way you send web pages via email has changed with Mountain Lion. You now have many more options, if you know how to use it. First, click on the Share button in the Safari toolbar. Then, choose Email This Page. You can also choose File, Share Email This Page.
Then, when the page displays in an email message in Mail, you can change what you send. Want to be able to send just a link? Look over on the right side of the Mail message window. There is a pop-up menu there for “Send Web Content As.” Select “Link Only” to just send the link as before. It will even remember your setting for next time. You can also send the page as a PDF file, or the page as it would appear in Safari Reader mode.

We thought that instead of writing a book on Mountain Lion, why not do what we do best and create videos! So we’ve created The Video Guide To Mountain Lion. We put together 20+ videos with more than 2 hours of instruction, and made it super-easy to get by putting it in the Mac App Store.

This is a great way for beginners to get to know Mac OS X Mountain Lion, and for casual users to dig deeper into the features. The videos are unique, not something that can be found anywhere else. The app lets you jump easily from video to video and you can resize the window for better viewing, even going full screen.

Even if you are proficient in using OS X, you may want to consider recommending this to friends as a good way to jump in and learn more.

I was a huge fan of the original Atari game. So I’m a little disappointed that this 30th anniversary game is basically a clone of Temple Run. But that being said, Temple Run is a good game and Pitfall improves on it with different views and challenges. Plus, it gives us a reminder that the original Pitfall was an early precursor to today’s run-and-jump games. So worth getting, but I wish it came bundled with a version of the original game too.

“Let’s check my news feed. Civil wars, presidential election, Mars rover. What do you have?”
“The dock connector on the next iPhone might be a little smaller.”

In addition to being able to mirror newer Macs to Apple TV with Mountain Lion, you can also choose to send only your Mac’s audio to Apple TV. Just select it as your sound output in System Preferences, Sound, Output. Or, option+click on the speaker icon in the menu bar and select the Apple TV. This works well if your Apple TV is plugged into a home theater system, and you don’t necessarily need to turn on the TV or projector to use audio.

While iMovie only lets you include one picture-in-picture at a time, you can use Keynote to merge multiple videos. The technique involves putting many videos on one slide, and then exporting the presentation as a new video. You can use this to create a variety of effects.

Big Fish Casino is a very nice casino app that includes many individual games, like Texas Hold’em, that are done pretty well. It is nice to see an alternative to Zynga gaining some traction. If poker isn’t your game, there is blackjack, roulette, slots and a few others. They are all tied in to your “fake money” wallet, so yo you can build up your score on whichever games you like the most.
