While iOS comes with a wide variety of pre-installed fonts, you may want to install your own in order to use a special font in a document. You can do this using a third-party app called AnyFont. Once you follow all of the steps, you can use the font like any other.

There are many ways to print envelopes with your Mac. In this video, we'll look at using Pages to print a single envelope. Then we'll compare that to using Contacts to print. You can also get third-party apps in the Mac App Store that give you even more options.

In addition to the small collection of backgrounds you can find in System Preferences, there is also another collection of beautiful backgrounds hidden in the system library folder in High Sierra. Not sure why they are hidden away there, but they are easy to access and use as your desktop wallpaper.

There are three different ways to rename a file in the Finder. In addition, you can also rename a file while you are working on it in an app.

Instead of saving links in bookmarks or the Reading List, you can also save them to a Reminders list and the Notes app. This can be useful during research or when you want to share a link of links with students or co-workers.

If you have a Reminders notification badge in your Dock that is stuck, even though you have no pending alerts, you can fix it. The trick is to restore from your iCloud backup. This resets the notifications for Reminders and clears the bogus number.

So I'm working on a video for next week about how to install fonts on iPhones and iPads. It turns out that everyone uses a third-party app for this. And there is just this one app and everyone likes it. So OK. I'll do a tutorial on the third-party app. It is a fairly convoluted procedure, but doable for typical users. At least typical users that work with fonts already. Here's me walking through it all. I'm going to condense this into a regular MacMost video later on.

If you look around online you'll find many counterfeit Apple products at major online retailers. While these may be cheaper, they are usually much lower quality and not worth it. You can often spot these fakes by looking for red flags on the sales pages and reading reviews.

As long as you have Find My iPhone activated on your iPhone, you can then use a computer and log on to the iCloud web site to trigger Lost Mode. This will lock your phone, and enable you to display a message and phone number on the screen. You'll also get location updates sent to you via email. You can turn off Lost Mode if you find your iPhone.

Over the last few years, browser tabs have become the standard way most people view multiple websites at the same time. It is easy to start using Safari tabs and it keeps your desktop cleaner and makes it easier to jump between multiple web pages.

Spring-Loaded folders allow you to drag and drop files from one location to another, viewing what is inside the destination folder before dropping the file. This is particularly useful when you want to drop a file several levels deep. It works best when you are using column view, since you can move around through folders easily.

I've been playing around with the accessibility keyboard in High Sierra and it is very interesting how much you can do with it. Even if you don't have a disability, it can be useful to be able to type when your keyboard isn't available. As I play around with it, I discover more and more it can do. I even made a big discovery while making is video!

If you add a piece of background music to your iMovie project, the length of the music may be longer than your video. You can set the music to fade out at the appropriate time by dragging the Fade Out dot to the left. You can use this technique whether you use iMovie's special background music track or attach the music to a clip in the main part of the timeline. You can also fade in and add other changes in volume at any point.

You can easily customize the margins of your Pages documents if you need something different than the defaults. You can also select from standard paper sizes or create your own if you use special forms or paper. You can save paper sizes to be used again.

I think this is kind of cool. You can use Alexa on your iPhone through the Amazon shopping app (but strangely, not the Alexa app). So you can use Siri, Alexa through the Amazon app, and Google and Microsoft's Cortana through their apps. Four assistants, one iPhone.

The Podcasts app in iOS 11 allows you to subscribe to podcasts, download their episodes, and listen or watch them. You can browse the iTunes store for shows and grab an individual episode or subscribe to the whole show. You can set up the app to download new episodes automatically. You can create a playlist, called a Station, to group together new episodes of shows and have them ready to listen to when you want to enjoy your podcasts.

Context menus are menus that appear when you Control+click on an object in the Finder or an app. You can also usually use a two-finger click to bring it up, depending on your settings. Context menus allow you to find many functions of software that aren't obvious or are impossible to know about any other way. Control+clicking to bring up context menus is something export Mac users use all the time, but beginners may not know about.
