Changing Email Addresses
3/30/16
When it is time to change your email address, there is a lot to consider. You'll need to notify people you correspond with, but also update a lot of online accounts that use that email address as an ID. The key is to continue to monitor your old email address for a while to make sure the transition is smooth.

If you connect to wi-fi network somewhere and wish to disconnect then you may be used to just turning off wi-fi on your Mac to do it. Then you need to remember to turn it on again after changing locations. Instead, hold the Option key down and click the wi-fi icon in the menu bar and look for the “Disconnect From” option under the current wi-fi network. This leaves wi-fi on so you’ll connect to your regular networks automatically later on. It also allows you to keep using location services even if you are not connected to a specific wi-fi network.

How Gatekeeper Protects Your Mac
3/21/16
In OS X you can use Gatekeeper to protect your Mac from malicious software. Most users should have it set to only allow apps from the Mac App Store. When you do so, it is easy to allow other apps on a case-by-case basis, so even export users should consider this setting as the default.

For once the expectations for an Apple event seem to be pretty reasonable. No one is predicting outrageous new features for the iPhone, or a completely new product, or even a minor Mac mini update. So predicting what we are going to hear should be easy. Everyone seems to agree we will get a new low-end iPhone and a new 9.7-inch iPad.

Signing Documents With Preview
3/14/16
You can sign PDF documents in the Preview app and in Mail. You save your signature using either the trackpad or your Mac's camera. You can then insert that signature in any spot in the PDF. It then becomes a permanent part of that PDF just as if you had printed out the document, signed it, and then scanned it back in. You can do the same in Mail, but only the copy sent will contain the signature.

Clearing your website history in Safari on your Mac is easy. Just choose History, Clear History. This not only clears your list of visited websites, but also wipes out your cookies. That basically means you are logged out of every website you recently visited. But you can hold the option key down when choosing History, Clear History to keep the website data around. This is less disruptive, but still clears your history.

In El Capitan you can double-click a window’s title bar to zoom. This means it will expand the window to its maximum size, or back to its original size the second time. But you can change this functionality so double-clicking a window’s title bar will minimize instead, shrinking down into the Dock. Just go to System Preferences, Dock, and set the “Double-click a window’s title bar to” option to which one you want. Or, uncheck that option and double-clicking a window’s title bar will do nothing.
